Barry Napier is the executive who spearheaded BPI Telecom's (http://www.bpi.ie) growth and success over the past decade, delivering complex projects involving commercial, organisational, and technical challenges.
In leading our management team, Barry combines hands-on experience with direct business acumen, setting the strategic direction for his team and driving the business forward. He worked in the Telecoms arena for 12 years, before going into partnership with Fergus Sweeney in 2000.
"We began the company because we believed that traditional distributors were little more than box shifters. We wanted to be more than that and added a service elements to the whole business of mobile distribution, delivering complete solutions to our customers that they value".
Barry has appointed key people from within the Telecoms industry to form a world-class management team at Cubic Telecom.
Having Graduated in Business Studies in 1991, Barry spent the following six years with a Dublin-based firm of Auditors, studying Chartered Accountancy. An offer from a client shipping company brought Barry from practice to industry, where he worked as company accountant for the next three years. In 2000 Barry commenced his career in the Telecoms arena with the position of Financial Controller with the mobile phone distributor, Celtic Telecom Consultants.
Having played an integral role in the subsequent purchase of Brightpoint (Irl). from their US-based parent company, Barry now holds the position of Group Finance Director for the renamed BPI Telecom Limited, Celtic Telecom Consultants Limited, and the latest addition to the group, Cubic Telecom Limited.
Alois started his carrier in the IT industry and moved quite early into the new upcoming mobile telecommunication sector building up and launching meanwhile more than 10 mobiles operators (MNOs) and virtual mobile operators (MVNOs) based on 2G GSM, 3G UMTS and WiMAX/WiFi mobile services as local or global acting operators.
Alois worked in senior management positions over the last 20 years building up telco operators with a home market out of Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. He is an expert in getting the mobile license from the local regulation offices, getting national and international roaming in place, building up the mobile infrastructure and managing core IT and next generation network technology of the mobile operation as a full MNO or as a virtual MVNO. In this role Alois is acting CTO.
Alois is holding a university degree in Statistics of the University of Munich, Germany. Alois is married and has three children.
Gerry is one of the most respected figures within the mobile communications industry and, before joining us, he was Commercial Director and main Board Director of O2 Ireland.
He has enjoyed a highly successful career in sales, marketing and management within the IT and Telco industries, exceeding sales and profit quotas consistently for more than 30 years.
As Director of Sales & Distribution for 02, Ireland's second mobile network operator, Gerry delivered a net customer base of 1,000,000 customers from scratch in less than three years. Since April 2008, Gerry has invested in and become a director of a number of start-up businesses.
Kieran Sexton has been involved in the cellular industry for 17 years, and joined Cubic Telecom from 02 Ireland/Telefonica, where he was Head of Government Markets for three years.
Prior to that, Kieran was one of the original founders of Cellular World, where he spent twelve years as Director of Sales. Under his leadership, Cellular World became the largest cellular phone reseller into the Corporate, SME and Retail markets in Ireland, and was acquired by O2 Ireland/Telefonica in 2002.
Since joining us as Sales Director in November 2008, Kieran has been responsible for developing and implementing the Cubic Telecom sales strategy, developing our global White Label Reseller Channel, developing our global Strategic Partnership Channel and growing our own online proposition - Maxroam.com.
Until recently, Gustaaf van Ditzhuijzen was International Marketing Manager for Vodafone, based in the Netherlands. With more than 30 years experience in ICT, he has worked in the mobile business for the past 15 years.
Gustaaf started his career with Philips Telecommunications, and also worked for VNU, a large Dutch publishing company, where he set up the first interactive public broadband information service; and CMG, a computer consultancy agency and service bureau.
When Vodafone and ING-bank won the license to set up the second GSM operator in the Netherlands, Gustaaf was responsible for the complete billing process in the company. He then switched to the marketing department, with responsibility for marketing all international products.
He was the initiator within the Vodafone Group of the implementation of inter-standard roaming between GSM and ANSI-networks. And when the GSM Association founded the GSM Global Roaming Forum (GGRF) to stimulate cross-technology roaming, Gustaaf was appointed as chairman of the GGRF-G95 working group focusing on roaming between GSM and CDMA. Gustaaf is a member of the Marketing Working Group in the CDG-IRT (CDMA Development Group - International Roaming Team).
Pat is a Co-Founder of Cubic Telecom and of MAXroam our own online global roaming proposition, and has been involved in the telecoms arena for many years.
He has extensive experience in US and European markets. His entry into the market involved the building of the first management software for call shops and internet cafés in the late 1990's, a successful product still in use today by retail establishments worldwide.
Pat successfully launched Ireland's first independently-owned phones cards in 1999 and has developed a number of unique products for the US, UK and Irish markets. Recently Pat has been working in the products and innovation side of the company and is a prolific blogger and technology geek, Pat is our handset and gadget go to person.
