Initially targeting its corporate customers, K-Opticom will offer a customised mobile connectivity solution from Cubic Telecom to its international business travellers. The new service, branded as Mineo, will enable businesses to benefit from low cost data rates on a wide range of devices in over 100 countries. This opportunity for Cubic Telecom was brokered by Irish government agency ‘Enterprise Ireland’ as part of its drive to help Irish companies win new business in export markets.
An additional solution will be launched in September targeting consumers travelling out of Japan. Almost 1.4 million Japanese people travel internationally from Japan each year.
Barry Napier, CEO of Cubic Telecom said “we are delighted to collaborate with such an innovative company as K-Opticom which has successfully entered the MVNO market in recent years. We see Asia Pacific as a critical region for Cubic Telecom and the opportunity to partner with K-Opticom provides us with a strong base upon which we can build.”
“We are the first MVNO in Japan with KDDI,” said Kazuyoshi Tsuda, General Manager of K-Opticom’s Mobile Business Strategy Group. “There were already many providers on the NTT DOCOMO network, so we wanted to do something different from our competitors and Cubic’s solution has enabled this.”
